Four years ago the UK importer for Pink Lady Apples launched a photographic competition for food and drink photographers. it immediately attracted the attention of many of the worlds top food and drink photographers plus a host of interested amateurs as well. As the photographer for this site and many drinks producers it appealed to me and I entered in the inaugural year, to my surprise I managed a short lived finalist image which then spurred me on for future years.
Four years later and I have just received news that for the fourth year on the trot I have managed the same status. Normally I rely on entering stock images but this year it was more pleasing as I had a particular concept of an image in mind and travelled to France specially to shoot the image hoping I could rely on friends there to help stage and model in the picture for me, so thanks to Alain & Mugette.
The picture shows the 2016 image in my left hand with previous years in the other hand.
Below is the release issued to the press today.
Local photographer shortlisted for global award
Mark Unsworth , photographer from Islay Studios, has been shortlisted for Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year 2016, the world’s leading food photography and film awards.
Now in its fifth year, Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year celebrates all aspects of food in cultures across the globe and over 20,000 images have been entered since the Awards’ inception. Mark’s shot is shortlisted in the wine photographer of the year category.
Mark said It is immensely satisfying to note that this is the fourth year in a row that I have achieved this and only a couple of other British photographers have done the same in this exacting category.
